Hello world!

This is the beginning of a new Android blog dedicated to bringing you all the latest news, reviews and information on Android and the devices it runs on. As I’m sure you already know, Android is Google’s Linux-based mobile operating system that is taking the mobile computing industry by storm. It can be found on many different devices already; most commonly, smartphones, tablets and netbooks but it is now also being used for all sorts of other new devices like media players, TV’s and set-top boxes as well as some more usual ones such as headphones with touchscreens and crazy robots built to serve you!

I certainly see Android as the future of the portable computer and judging by how quickly it’s growing I’d say I’m not the only one. Currently every single day over 300,000 new Android devices are activated and this number is increasing exponentially. In less than three years since it was initially released Android has become the second most popular smartphone operating system with coming up for 30% global marketshare, surpassing Apple’s iOS, Palm’s WebOS, Microsoft’s Windows Mobile and Research In Motion’s Blackberry OS. This only leaves Nokia’s Symbian Platform to go and as Android is the only mobile OS currently gaining marketshare and is doing so at an incredible rate, it is highly likely that in little over a year it will be the dominant mobile OS.
So stay tuned for all latest news on the Little Green Dude’s march forward to world domination!
