Black Friday is almost here but some deals are already popping up. Google & Amazon are both offering significant discounts on their smart speakers.
Amazon’s Echo Dot is currently £34.99 (a £15 saving) while their full-sized Echo is £20 off bringing it to £69.99 for fabric models and £79.99 for wood or metal. With the latter you can also nab a TP-Link Smart Plug for just £9.99 when they are bought together. Unfortunately the Echo Plus and Show remain at their usual prices of £139.99 and £199.99 respectively.
UPDATE (20/11): The Echo Plus (including the bundle with a free Hue light) has now also been given a £30.00 reduction to £109.99.
Google seems to have matched this offer with the same £15 off on the Google Home Mini as the Echo Dot (making it £34) and a whopping £50 off their full-sized Google Home, bringing it down to £79.
Currently these deals seem to only be live in the UK but it is probable they will be expanded to other regions soon so keep your eyes peeled. The deals are available from John Lewis & their own respective stores (Amazon for the Echo & Google Store for the Google Home). John Lewis is offering the Echo Dot a further 99p cheaper than Amazon directly in order to exactly match the £34 price of the Google Home Mini. Links to each can be found at the bottom of the article.
Google’s promotion runs from today until “29 Nov 2017 at 11:59 pm GMT-8” (3:59 PM local time) which does seem an odd choice for a UK promotion. Amazon however doesn’t seem to have any indication of the end date on their promotion. If you’re after an Echo you might want to act quickly to avoid missing out because the deal could potentially go at any time.
